Meet Pastor Scott Stanfill & Family
Pastor Scott and Amber, his wife of 16 years, along with their children, Grace and Luke, come to us from Colquitt, GA, where they served the Colquitt United Methodist Church since 2018. A graduate of The University of Georgia and Asbury Theological Seminary, Scott has a passion in ministry for seeing the image of God renewed in every person through faith and growth in Christ and embodied through service to others.
Amber is a "Double Dawg" from UGA, having earned a bachelors and masters in Early Childhood Education. She also earned her specialist in Educational Leadership from Albany State University. With 14 years of teaching experience, Amber is thrilled to be joining the Glynn County School System in August. Grace is 8 years old and enjoys dance, softball, soccer, and basketball. Luke is 6 years old and loves hunting, fishing, baseball, basketball, and football. The children are particularly excited to be in close proximity to the beaches.
Pastor Stanfill’s first Sunday with College Place was June 19, 2022. All are invited to come worship in-person with the College Place Family at one of our two services, at 8:45 and 11:00.
Our History
College Place Church was “born” on July 1962, after McKendree UMC on Norwich Street voted to relocate to a new location at Altama Avenue in Brunswick, Georgia. Services began at a building on the site on October 14 of that year.
College Place broke ground for a portion of its current facility on February 10, 1963. By mid-August, services began — led by the Reverend Sam Rogers.
In the 50-plus years since, College Place has expanded to hold a congregation of more than 750 and has added classrooms, a Christian Life Center meeting facility (2003), an expanded Youth Activity Building, a front parking lot, a digital sign to visually reach out to the surrounding community and most recently a Veteran’s Memorial Park.
